Thanks for the kind words Kenny! Headed out tomorrow for a quickie belt run and a little poking around in the public area. Hopefully I’ll be able to post some more pics. I got another camera and this is it’s inaugural trip.

Ha! My son has become very enthusiastic about metal detecting. He goes in the back yard and has unearthed about 20 rusty nails, one penny (1980-ish), and a few random other bits of rusty metal (fence, piece of a windchime, and unidentified). He really wants to find some “real treasure” so I guess he’ll just have to keep looking. 🙂

I’ve seen purple rock here and there, but not sure about any veins or what they might be composed of. You might want to just plan other stops (or stop wherever it looks good to hunt, like most of us hounds do), in that area and check out the book’s location, too.

Just curious as to if you know anything about a purple rock out there? I was out after some opal, chasing a spot from Garrett romaine’s falcon guidebook; came upon some big veins of purple high on the bluffs around Opalene Gulch, kinda out by marsing, or #55 if you have the book… Something tells me you might lol. Anyways if you know what I’m talking about, hmu.
